I made a small blog post about Kolce, the planet that Tarus Space takes place on.

Full Plate Armour
So, I saw this [link] recently and it shows people in different gear running an obstacle course. The short version is that it is a firefighter, modern soldier and medieval knight in full plate running the same course. They basically end up at around roughly the same time in full gear (the modern soldier is actually the slowest but I would argue that normally soldiers drop their heavy backpack before intensive combat).
This led me to a big thought: people in their contemporary time period always think people in the past were stupider. This is despite one constant throughout recorded history; we're still the same human beings. The idea tha
Cultural Appropriation
Where else would you find people pontificating about topics where no one will actually read them? The Internets.
Anyway, in Canada there was a huge rage about cultural appropriation after some media personalities put up an award for doing some shameless cultural appropriation and thought it a fantastic thing. In all the discussion of the topic, which was emotionally charged, what I shall was heavy misunderstanding about what cultural appropriation really means. The difference is sometimes subtle but really it boils down to: did you make something original and did you understand the context?

I've not had a chance to do a pencil drawn piece for a very long time and as such my skill hasn't improved in the mean time. However, I figure I'll do what I can (like doodles) or in this case a journal entry.
Things going on in my life? Jerbs! I've been switching jerbs and that's soaked a lot of time and mental energy. I'm settling into a new position. It's good and I'm looking for ways to grow in that position in my perpetual journey of self improvement.
What's going on in my art world? The fourth issue of my comic Tarus Space. It's still going, albeit slowly, but I'm trying to make sure it is of good quality. I figure I'll just d
Hard Scifi: What's possible?
I’ve noticed a trend lately in science fiction to be more “hard” and match known laws of physics. That style has its aesthetic: it creates a world that is easier to suspend belief in and immerse yourself in a what-if tomorrow. It has a sense of optimism as well because humanity could potentially achieve it.
But what I find more often is that it has a very strange sense of pessimism to it. That is, why is it that people find it easier to “figure out” what people can’t do and debunk concepts than it is to solve problems?
It seems people go so far as to say what we can’t do that they even poop on te
