The most expensive mercenaries are the ones with guns. In a world heavily devastated by the Demon War, technology is a prized and valuable asset. The Military covets all guns, down to the simplest pistols. That action has driven up the cost of guns to the point where entire platoons of troops may have only a single gun held by its captain.

The ak-47 is the most powerful gun outside the Military regime and is coveted by mercenaries and commonfolk alike to defend themselves in the dangerous world. In fact, the ak-47 has become the symbolic tool of the various knight orders that have sprung up in the wake of chaos to help aid fellow people.
